Susie started her Virtual Assistant business in 2018. It was as if the universe had been preparing her throughout her life to become an Expert VA. In January of 2020, after completing the Expert Virtual Training Program, Susie was very pleased to received her Certification. With the training she received and her life experience, she looks forward to years more assisting her clients in reaching their goals!

Helping Others Has Been Susie’s Lifelong Passion

From an early age, Susie had a helpful and caring spirit. When she was just 6 years old she was watching the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon. Her family was hosting their annual Labor Day Clam Bake in the back yard, and she had snuck into the house to watch. Susie saw all the kids in need, and she pulled her mom from the party and asked her to call the telethon and donate the money from her piggy bank. That $16 was all the money in the world to Susie, and yet she wanted to give it away to help others.

Susie’s first career job was as a Medical Assistant. She loved it because she could work closely with patients. In each position she held, she moved up the ladder, eventually becoming an office manager. She worked all aspects of the medical practice and management throughout her career.

Leaving Work at Work Isn’t Susie’s Style

Eventually, Susie moved to North Carolina to be closer to her family so they could assist in the care of her mother who had Alzheimer’s. Upon her mom’s death, Susie returned to work. She told her husband, “I just want a job that I can go to work, come home and forget it.” That is now a family joke! Within months, she was promoted to Operations Manager and then Regional Director of a national medical records scanning company. She traveled extensively in this position, working with teams to develop a better workflow, supporting and developing managers, creating training manuals and working with clients one on one. She loved her job!

Downsizing Didn’t Stop Susie

Then it happened, she was downsized and devastated. As always, Susie picked herself up and figured how to turn a negative into a positive. That’s when her VA business was born! What could be better? While she loved traveling, she realized that weeks away from home and working double shifts was not really all that great, but working from home with her two dogs and cat as office mates is pretty amazing! Plus, she could continue her lifelong passion to help others. Now she would use her writing and organizational skills to help business owners achieve their goals.
